Thursdays

May's picture

Damn you Holloway for showing me up!

That said, my Thursday consists of:
7am: Yoga
8:15am: 30 min. run
9:30-5pm: Work. With a big lunch in between.
5:30pm: Climbing

Not too bad. Although my "30 min. run" was more like 20 minutes. And I got to yoga late. : )

I think I'm ruining the communal blog by posting so much, but I swear once I hear back from Intel I won't be posting DAILY trying to type away my anxiety.

Yesterday I went to a party thrown by a friend from soccer and offended her by telling her that she should come to Patrick's party because she's cute and single. I'm not quite sure how. It's a reminder to meet new people every now and then...everyone else I hang out with would have been cool with that statement, but I spent the next 20 minutes trying to backpedal and tell her that I really just want her to meet the rest of my friends. Oi. I really, really hate social faux paus. (is that plural?) I'm going to obsess over what I should have said and if she still likes me for the next few days, and I hate knowing that I'm going to do that and not being able to figure out 1) how to stop it and 2) how to prevent it from happening again besides just STFU. All this when I know that she probably was fine with it after letting me know where she stood. Meh. Don't you love social anxiety? 2 more parties to go to before my week is over. Boy oh boy oh Awkward!

heh

Have fun at your parties this week.

And don't feel bad about posting on the blog a lot. That is what it is here for :)

not so organized

If you haven't heard back from Intel yet, I'd recommend calling them and calling them and calling them until you do hear back. I interviewed for two positions with them when I was looking for jobs and here is what happened with the "call back" on both

Job 1: No word, no word, no word. Finally contacted them. "Oh? Didn't anyone call you? You didn't get the job, I thought someone had contacted you about that...".

Job 2: No word, called them and was told "Oh, they haven't made a decision yet, but we'll call soon", no word, called again and was told the same story, no word, interviewed with Xerox, Xerox called back 18 hours after I left the interview with an offer, took job, never looked back. 6 months later I find out that Intel had accepted me and put together an offer and FORGOT TO CALL AND TELL ME ABOUT IT!!! I kid you not. When they found out that I hadn't accepted because I'd NEVER BEEN TOLD, heads were rolling.

So, the moral of this story is call them. And if you get an admin who gives you some bullshit "go away, I don't want to deal with you because I'm talking online with my boyfriend" answer, then call the hiring manager directly.

...

Yeah, I'll probably call them next week if I don't hear from them on Monday. I'm hesitant to contact them because the manager replied to my thank you email telling me that I should be hearing from them this week (since some people were on vacation). I also know that one of the guys I talked to went on a weeklong cruise, and am not sure if he'd back in the office yet. I have the manager's cell phone and his email, but I want to make sure that something has been forgotten before I start contacting him. I figure I'll give them one business day's grace and then start asking questions. And in the meanwhile...I'm waiting patiently. Ha!

That's horrific though that they offered you a job but never actually offered it to you.
