A question for Wiiers

Miah's picture

I've been looking at a Wii on and off since they came out, but never really got to the point of really wanting one.

But I'm getting closer - what I really see myself doing is playing the sports games on it, Tennis and Baseball seem like the most obvious candidates. I'm not really interested in other games of theirs right now.

Anyone have any of tennis games? Are they as fun as they look, and do they still provide a challenge after a while, or do they get pretty boring?

Thanks!

My take

I don't have any of the tennis games (except for Wii sports tennis and the ping pong game in wii resort), but I enjoy the wii a lot. It is a nice complement to the xbox.

You are probably smarter to wait until now to buy the system anyway, because there are way more (good) games out for it than there were a couple years ago. I guess I would say that if you only want it for the tennis and baseball game, then it probably isn't worth it. But if you enjoy the other games it offers (zelda, the mario games, rabbids, smash bro, punch out, the plethora of party games, etc) then you shouldn't regret the purchase.

Punch out sounds like fun :-)

I'm looking for the active games. RPGs I'm going to go with the PC versions (and the wonderful user-created content that fleshes them out), and I doubt I'd ever give up football on a console, but the truer participation in sports games has intrigued me from the start (at least for non-kicking games).

My biggest fear is just that the games are predictable and a pattern develops, which would end up making the entire game too easy.

...

I haven't found them predictable, though I think the variance from my personal usage of the controller will keep it that way. Are you thinking about getting the fit or sports resort? I definitely used the fit and liked the challenge.

One thing I expected was that I'd play the active games more, but then I got sucked into paper mario, zelda, and now the new super mario. So I haven't played tennis nearly as much as I thought I would.

ooh

I really liked paper mario, zelda and the new super mario! Good choices all!
