I Have a Political Crush

Patrick's picture

I totally have a political crush on Barack Obama. I don't necessarily align with all his stances... but for the most part he is such a well spoken, intelligent sounding, reasonable guy. He doesn't seem TOO entrenched in the political machine that is Washington (although we know you don't get to be a Senator without at least somewhat being trapped in the system). He comes off as very charismatic (which I think is good for a leader). He doesn't seem to paint things in a US vs. THEM type of way for most topics and he talks in a lot of greys. I like him a hell of lot more than Hillary and more than I do Edwards. I really REALLY hope that he gets the nomination because I do believe he could win the whole thing versus the crappy assortment of Republican candidates.

I've seen him in a few of the debates and for the most part his answers are fairly logical and make sense. There's been a couple times I didn't quite like his answer... but other than Kucinich (who has no chance in hell of winning the nomination), I think Obama sounds like the most reasonable Democratic candidate on ticket.

Anyway... back to your regularly scheduled lives. :)

Agreed

Kucinich has always been my favorite, but for whatever reason the country doesn't seem to be able to rally behind him. It's too bad.

If I had to pick candidates that didn't include Kucinich, I would arrange them as follows:

Best case: Edwards as President, Obama as VP
Second: Hillary/Obama
Third: Obama/Edwards
Fourth: Obama/Hillary

Obama is so young that if we put him as the VP, he could remain in the executive office in some capacity for the next 16 years. That would be pretty sweet.
