I am trying to stop myself from buying a DS lite.
Just not very successfully. I think I'll get a black one with Brain Age, Nintendogs (Dalmation version w/ german shepard and boxer starter), and Animal Crossing.
What other games do you guys recommend?

Haa! I'm taking two weeks off - my right leg is one gnarly mess of bruises upon bruises from soccer, and then I'll be out of town 3 out of the next four weekends...let's just consider this our "getting in shape phase?"
I put off the DS for sooo long because of the Repetitive Stress problems that I've already got...but then I thought, "well I could get a really thick stylus..."
A hint for the smoker-fied game: stop by a coffeeshop and ask for a bag of used coffee grounds (you can use fresh, but they're expensive and this is just as effective). Store game on grounds for a few days if the grounds are not too wet. Voila! No more stink! I don't know how coffee does it, but it absorbs stank like no one's business. My apt. down here first smelled like curry when we moved in for weeks before we hit upon that solution - why don't people air out their places???
Nintendogs are cool, dammit! No, you're right...but I want a dog so desperately. It might help assuage that for a bit more until I have a yard.
You should get a cat
Since you can't have a dog, get a cat. They are cute, and basically take care of themselves.
Can't do it.

If you like Animal Crossing, you should check out Harvest Moon. You wouldn't think that pretending to farm would be fun, but it really is.

Funny you should mention such a thing. I recently acquired a black DS Lite and Patrick said something like, "Y'know, I'm really surprised May hasn't purchased one. She used to be really obsessed with [insert name of handheld gaming device here]." And then here you are... a couple weeks later!
I bought Big Brain Academy with the DS Lite and then bought Final Fantasy III yesterday. I bought FF3 used though and to my horror, I figured out the former owner was a smoker. And do you know how I figured it out? Because the booklet and the game reeked of cigarettes and proceeded to make everything it touched reek of cigarettes. I am actually very astonished that the stench of cigarettes can penetrate paper. I didn't know paper absorbed smells so well.
Nintendogs... really, May? :)
P.S. Marathon training is not going at the moment. I start on next Monday... I SWEAR.
