Head to Body: "You are no longer 16."

Body: Sadness.
My indoor soccer team took on a bunch of rowdies yesterday. Average age of our players? 33. Average age of theirs? 16.
I've got two strained calves and a bruised achilles (from an earlier outdoor game) and am hobbling around cubicle-land like a lifer. My teammates have endured: arm/leg bruising, torn ACL&MCL, knee cap cutting through skin, etc. etc.
And God DAMN, do I feel old. Can I go shake my younger self for taking youthful energy and healing for granted? While I'm at it, I miss my younger belly. This one has stopped taking in massive amounts of food while not looking like it.
To add insult to injury, one of the girl's moms was yelling "take them out!"
Hah.

I agree
Having dealt with repeated injury and almost chronic hip and back pain for the last two and half years, I totally hear you. It's ridiculous how often I sound like a 70 year old. I feel pathetic at this age being so creaky. That's why I go for the yoga and pilates instead of soccer. And I'm starting to notice the same belly issues...grr. Not cool. Just wait until we're older, then the hell will really begin. Sagging, horizontal expansion, aching, wrinkling...oh dear god. Dying scares me, but so does getting old. Especially in pharmacy school, where you learn about all the many many things that can go wrong and all the drugs they stick old folks on.
