Google Reader is killing my will to live.

May's picture

Actually, not really, but I find people think I'm much more exciting if I say things like that. Like, "Burnt frittata, you are killing my will to live!" Or the uber relevant "the stock market is killing my will to go on".

Anyways, I keep staring at the screen waiting to see "Google Reader (1)". UPDATE, people, UPDATE! Seriously. I can't go to the gym knowing that I might miss one MINUTE of your daily lives. Yes, I'm blaming you for my fatness. So get moving!

I think I'll go get some Haagen-Daaz and stare hopefully at the screen a bit more.

What is google reader?

...

From Wikipedia: "Google Reader is a Web-based aggregator, capable of reading Atom and RSS feeds. It was released by Google on October 7, 2005 through Google Labs."

um

I still don't know what it is.

...

Err, sorry. Google reader can take in feeds that some blogs put out, and display all of the blogs that you read on one page, by order of posting. So instead of having to find the 15 blogs I read individually, it brings them to me, in the nice shiny google layout.

cool

Yeah, Adam explained it to me too. I'm very ignorant when it comes to computer stuff. It sounds cool.

It was more a post of what a sad, sad person I am anyways :)

The world doesn't necessarily revolve around new tech.

Google Reader

Very simple, Google Reader is a web-based RSS reader (similar but a lot less functional than Bloglines). You can subscribe to any RSS feed you want (for example, Sehti's RSS feed) and get updates on everything.

I personally use an actual application called Omea Reader since I have RSS feeds that I read from both inside and outside of Intel. Otherwise, I use Bloglines for all my external RSS needs.

If you don't know what RSS is... this is a good site:

Simply put, RSS feeds are being added to most things (blogs, news sites, etc) and so it's a great way to keep updated on a lot of your favorite sites without having to browse to each one individually. It's made my life much simpler at work too as I can subscribe to specific RSS feeds within SharePoint and such. It's part of that whole Web 2.0 thing. :)
