Uneventful Weekend

My weekend was quite uneventful. That's good and bad. I was very lazy though this weekend... my apartment is a disaster (going to clean it tonight after work).
I also pretty much confirmed that the girl that I had went on those dates with isn't interested... so that kind of bummed me out. Ahh well... I guess I just gotta keep trying.
The other sad discovery I made about myself is I'm starting to lose hair. I am going to go see a dermatologist or something about how to keep the hair I have. No need to go bald yet. A bald Patrick would be very un-sexy.
I did start my running routine on Sunday... as I was inspired by Molly's running of the Helvetia Tavern run this weekend. I am going to plan on running a half-marathon the end of the summer (if I can find one near that time)... so I need to start training now.
Classes are done now though. I'm not taking any classes over the summer... as I know I lack the discipline required to take summer classes (I'm too easily distracted by weekend events and the nice weather). I am 95% sure I got A's in both my classes though... so that's good.
Anyhow, back to work. Hope everyone has a good week.

Whoa nelly!
Firstly - I'm sorry about the girl. I do think that if you keep trying you'll meet the right person for you.
Now, for the part that I actually know anything about...you're going to run a half-marathon? By the end of the summer? You're crazy! I'm really happy that you've gotten into running, and I'm psyched for you to start competing, but you may want to rethink a halfie and go for something smaller to start with. Think about it...the last time I tried to get you to do the Nike 10K with me, you balked at 6 miles. This is 13. I know it's hardcore to go all-out, but seriously...
Let's be brutal: you're new to running, you're new to racing, and unless you're 100% dedicated to your training calendar AND are physically sound AND are lucky, you're going to injure yourself running a half-marathon anytime soon. Trust me on this. Or at least trust other sources.
When you build up mileage running, the safest way is to increase by 10% a week. So, say you're running 21 miles a week: 3 miles a day. The next week, you should only try to add 2.1 miles to that schedule - one 5.1 mile run, or spread out along the week. To try to increase more than that puts you at high risk of injury: shin splints, cramps, hairline fractures, etc. These are not fun things! Notice that the second calendar link assumes that you've been running for at least 6 Months prior to starting a half-marathon training schedule. Most suggested training calendars always assume a background of a few months of decent mileage...if you find one that gets you from 0 to 13.1 miles in less than 4 months I'll tell you that they're leading you down the garden path to serious pain.
This is just the sheer numbers portion of training: I'm leaving out diet, weights, sprints, hills, etc. that you'd need to be adding in if you wanted to become a seriously competitive runner. I know the numbers don't look that hard on paper, but once you're piling on the miles, you're going to wear your body out, whether you're a beginner or expert. I'm not even going to touch on the mental burnout that such a calendar produces.
Don't get me wrong, I think a half-marathon is an admirable goal, and you should definitely try to run one in your lifetime. But, I think running one this summer would be a mistake. If you want to race this summer, why not try a 10k first? Build up to the 13.1 miler slower, and you'll be healthier and happier for it.
hair
You should talk to Nat, as she has already learned in class about the hair growth drugs.
Are you getting a bald spot, or receeding hairline?
