My New Friends

This weekend, I made some new friends. They are pretty young but cute twin sisters. I met them out in Hillsboro, early evening on Saturday, with Anna. I just really hit it off with them. I took them home with me that night and I think they really liked my place. I even made them dinner and they slept with me that night. It was a very nice weekend.

All honesty...
I just keep it in my bathroom and to keep it from smelling... you have to clean it often... especially as they get older.

go organic!
There are healthier alternatives to litter than the traditional clay based alternatives or the clumping type. Definitely consider the biodegradable stuff: Ali says that if she could train her adult cats to use it, she'd swear by the stuff, but unless the cat was started on it as a kitten, it will prefer the litter it was raised on. The clumping/clay stuff is the smell you probably associate with litter boxes...if you keep any box clean it won't smell of poop, and if it's biodegradable you won't have the dust/perfumes from the clay.

Oooh, neato!
I didn't know they had environmental friendly, flushable cat litter! Sweet!
What kind does Ali recommend? Ideally we would want something flushable and non-smelly.
Also, Datrick, how much did it cost you to get your kitty shots, and spayed/neutered?

Cost...
The first set of shots were already done by the woman I got these from... so I don't know the costs yet. I have a 2nd round of shots to get in a couple weeks. I'll probably end up getting health insurance with these cats though... because it seemed to help a lot with our dogs and Bijou before she died (in saving costs).
And I won't be getting them spayed til probably 6 months (which is the recommended time).
As for the environmentally safe litter... I'll take that in mind. I can't imagine it's that much more expensive and it sounds safer for the cat.
Practical question
How do you deal with the litter box? Meaning, where does it go, and how do you keep it from stinking up your apartment?
I ask because Nat and I would like a kitty, but don't want our apartment to smell like a litterbox...
