Limbo
Submitted by Grayce on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 12:33pm.For those of you who played Braid, you may want to consider Limbo. Michael and I finished it last week. I don't like Limbo as much as Braid because I thought it lacked a story and the components of the puzzles became stale after a while. I don't think it deserves the perfect ratings it has been receiving but it's a 4 out of 5.

The little cars who couldn't...
Submitted by Grayce on Mon, 12/22/2008 - 10:31am.On the news the other day, they showed a clip of a video of a hill in Portland and the many cars who attempted to climb it. I thought it was incredibly entertaining. I stumbled across the full video so I thought I'd share it. Apologies if you have already seen it.

The Presidents of the USA (the band) is coming to Portland on Friday, December 19th. The show is at the Crystal Ballroom and starts at 8PM. Brian and I plan to go and wondered if anyone else would like to join. Advance tickets are $18 with a $6 fee, if bought online. If we can make it to the Crystal Ballroom though, the fee lowers to $1. Please let me know in the comments if you're interested. Our intention is to buy tickets within the next two weeks.

Pumpkin Carving Party: New location!
Submitted by Grayce on Wed, 10/22/2008 - 3:49pm.I don't mind volunteering to host a pumpkin carving party this weekend (Saturday, October 25th) unless someone else really wants to. I live near the Streets of Tanasbourne in Hillsboro (quite near Patrick's old apartment). Parking can be tricky in my complex as all the garages are tandem and therefore, tenants tend to park their extra car in the visitor spots. We may not have any issues but I would recommend carpooling if you can. Do we want to do a potluck dinner or just snack items? Maybe Patrick would be kind enough to let me borrow his panini maker. If we do dinner, we could start between 6 - 7 PM. If you plan on attending, please comment below and I'll provide directions to my place as Google Maps sometimes provides weird, roundabout directions.
Don't forget to bring your pumpkin, tools, and/or stencils! Just in case you forget though, I'll have some extra tools and stencils. Candles shall be provided. How does that sound to everyone? Let me know if I've forgotten something or if you have additional ideas.
Update (10.23.2008): I figured out where everyone can park so parking is no longer an issue.

Corn Maze anyone?
Submitted by Grayce on Wed, 10/08/2008 - 3:25pm.I was wondering if anyone would be interested in going to a corn maze. I've never been but I heard they were fun. I found a link which lists multiple corn mazes (kind of) in the area. Check out the links and let me know if any catch your eye...

Windows XP Reinstallion Woes :(
Submitted by Grayce on Sun, 08/03/2008 - 1:40am.I'm having trouble installing a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro and after much Googling, I hope someone here might have some ideas for me.
HISTORY: In college, I split my 60GB hard drive into two partitions, Windows XP (C:) and Ubuntu (D:). A while ago, I began having computer issues, so Patrick suggested a reinstall. I began the reinstall from my current Windows. I managed to delete my Ubuntu partition but discovered I could not delete my C: drive to merge the two partitions together. So I just chose to reinstall Windows. However, after the fresh install, my C: drive still said it was using 25 GB and I only had 5 GB free. From what I can tell, the minimum requirements for XP Pro is 1.5 GB. So this doesn't sound right. I did some more Google searches and it looks like if I wanted to wipe out my entire hard drive and merge the two partitions, I needed to do boot from the CD. I managed to do this okay. The prompt says, "Hit any key to boot from CD". After performing this action, I see "Setup is checking your hardware configuration..." and then the screen goes blank and just sits there until I shut the computer off.
I've been working on this for about 3 weeks and becoming increasing frustrated. Why can I not boot from the CD or why (after a fresh install) is my C: drive is 25GB full? Before I take my computer into a shop though, I'd like to see if anyone might know where the problem lies. Perhaps I'm missing something?? Many, many thanks in advance!

Adult Acne Woes
Submitted by Grayce on Tue, 10/23/2007 - 10:05am.I need advice from someone. I've had acne problems since the 8th grade. My mom always told me it was just puberty and eventually, it would go away, so I never got treated. Well, 12 years later, I'm still having problems. I've been on tetracycline, minocycline and Solodyn (which I believe are all the same thing) for the past two years and my acne is not getting better or going away. Today, my dermatologist said I could have the option of going on something called "Accutane", which has good results with acne patients but it's a harsher drug and of course, she warned me about the birth defects and other side effects. I told her I would try it but now my sister is making me worried because she's telling me that it's an awful drug and it'll mess up my body, etc.
I've googled for info about Accutane but I'm not sure how to tell the good info from the bad info. What do you think? Does anyone know of a friend who has taken the drug?

Movie Reviews
Submitted by Grayce on Tue, 07/03/2007 - 1:41pm.Ratatouille: Thumbs up
Another great Pixar movie. I was really impressed by the animation in this movie and I liked it better than Cars.
Live Free or Die Hard: Thumbs up
I hadn't seen the first free but I thought this movie was a typical Bruce Willis film. Some of the scenes are ridiculous but still fun.
[Edit] Transformers: Thumbs up!
I really enjoyed this movie. I want a Bumblebee Transformer now.

Question for Natalie (or anyone else)...
Submitted by Grayce on Thu, 01/18/2007 - 11:21pm.I get motion sick quite easily and it really irritates me that I can't seem to find any remedies for it (except Dramamine... which promptly puts me to sleep for the next 18 hours). I'm thinking about taking the Max to work but it takes me about 40 minutes and I feel like I'm just wasting time (which is the reason why I drive 10 minutes to work). But if I could read or work on the Max, I wouldn't hesitate to take public transportation. I'm thinking about trying one of those special pressure point wrist bands but I don't know if they really work. I was wondering if anyone has had experiences with them or know people who have... or if anyone has heard of anything else that might help. Thanks!

There are no words...

Advent Children!
Submitted by Grayce on Thu, 04/27/2006 - 9:35pm.After many delays, Advent Children has come out on DVD and I finally get to watch it with English subtitles :)! It also pleases me to see that it ranked #1 in DVD sales today and yesterday. It sounds silly and I don't know if rankings mean that much but it's nice to see that the movie is being supported! I encourage all! Here's what our friends at Penny-Arcade have to say about Advent Children: "This film contains scenes that may be totally fucking awesome. Your favorite characters may be rendered in extreme detail as they take part in mind-blowing battles set in familiar locales. Futuristic scabbard/motorcycles might be depicted in a way that makes them appear sweet."
